Safer Internet Day 21 – Webinar, panel discussion and media

I worked with Webwise.ie, the ISPCC and the Department of Justice for Safer Internet Day 2021. I delivered a webinar as part of the #BeKindOnline campaign on Safer Internet Day, Tuesday 7th February 2021. This was for parents of teens, and was about Empowering Healthy Online Behaviour in Teenagers. You can watch the recording below.

I also took part in a panel discussion on how teenagers can protect and improve their wellbeing through their online activities. Panel members included All-Ireland winning Dublin Footballer Eamon Fennell who talked about his own experience in the online world and lessons he learned about maintaining his wellbeing. Myself and Dr Alicia Blum-Ross, Public Policy Lead for Kids and Families at Google, talked about the research on young people online and what factors could improve or detract from wellbeing.

Media appearances related to Safer Internet Day

I appeared on Virgin Media's Ireland AM to discuss wellbeing online, with some advice for parents and everyone hoping to use the internet in a safer better way. You can see the clip here - along with two wonderfully articulate members of the Safer Internet Day Youth Panel talking about their experiences and what they learned in the programme. I also spoke to Declan Meehan on the East Coast FM Morning Show about some of the same topics.
